November 16, 2012

From 14 to 19 October 2012, we were driving from Roxburgh Park's home to Darwin's Lee Point Resort Village, taking turns driving between myself and our youngest son, Akustiadi....   our main purpose was to drive back Akustiadi's car and his belongings left in Darwin to our home in Melbourne....   our first overnight stay was at Highway1 Caravan Park in Bolivar at $38 per stay, then at Glendambo Caravan Park for $26 per stay without pipe water, then at Erldunda Caravan Park for $43 per stay, then at Tennant Creek Outback Caravan Park for $45 per stay, then at Katherine Resort for $50.75 per stay, and finally at Darwin's Lee Point Village Resort for 17 nights at $630 or $37.06 per night.....   the journey was good except for heat from freezing in Melbourne, extreme heat (mostly 44 degree C) along the desert highway, and hot near Darwin, with the car pulling the caravan having power problems due to petrol overheating....  after adding petrol system cleaner, the driving became smooth.....   it took us 6 days covering about 4,000 km in averaging 100 kph in 12 hours per day....
